There were many films that inspired us for the production of our films title, there were many aspects that influenced us with the title 'Lights Out', many of these aspects were down to tension building techniques and the fact that we could work a lot with the title to give it a great impact for when we were producing our title sequence.
Lights out, has an effect that leaves a both positive and negative effect. 'Lights' is a happy word and produces a good feel as it is all about a bright ending. Where as on the other hand 'Out' contrasts 'lights' and turns the title from suddenly being uplifting to a dark and sinister feel, this is because 'Out' is a very commanding word, you would expect to here it when you are being shouted at for example "Get out!" or it is a captured word where you are not able to get out or something has been let out of its cage.
