Age Certificate

Companies like The British Board Of Film Classification will be the type of  place that will rate our movie based on content and decide what age rate our film should be. We as a group have decided to make our film 15 and over. This is because Our film is a thriller and as such will have elements which are there to scare the audience an example of such an occasion in our film is the stalking who carries a weapon. The BBFC will most likely allow our film to stay at 15 without many alterations this is because although we actually see the knife in the film and our character being captured we never find out what happens to him. This ambiguous technique we have taken from other films, one very obvious use of knife scene is Alfred Hitchcocks "Psycho" specifically during the shower scene.
How we have used this directing technique to our advert is that it allows for there to be any actual gore in the film, thus keeping the film at a 15, and in turn helping it reach a larger audience.

A film we have examined closely because of its age classification is The Woman In Black. Reasons for looking into this film is because it has very scary scene which people at a young age might see as frightening, yet is is only rated a 12. This is because it doesn't show any violence, but uses psychological elements to thrill the audience. Examples of Woman in Black uses psychology to frighten their audience is through the use of not knowing, eg noises from around the house and the supernatural are all fears people have felt at least one point in their life. The advantage of using this technique is that while it stills scares the audience it keeps the age rating low thus reaching larger audience and increases overall profits
