Thriller movies have to have suspense in order to keep the audience watching and interested. Suspense would be a car chase or the antagonist is close to killing the protagonist. In our film it will be the antagonist stalking and making the protagonist feel uncomfortable. The drama aspect of our movie will be the relationship between the protagonist and the antagonist. The problem being that out main character offended the antagonist. This is a common theme in drama genres for example Baz Luhrmanns The Great Gatsby. Where the characters are all facing each other through lies or cheating.
Knowing what goes into a successful thriller is important because it can then be applied to our own movie. After researching the genre, some key elements consist of a character which appeals to the idea self theory. a female character which follows the rules of Laura Mulveys "Male gaze". There would have to be intense scenes, on ours this comes during finale were the threat of death is placed upon our main character. An example of a tense scene in another thriller like The Great Gatsby, scene below, is the shooting of Gatsby himself.
